Experience Mamelodi township on a bike

Mamelodi is an authentic township that played an important role in the opposition against Apartheid. The tour will visit the house and the family of ANC freedom fighter Solomon  Mahlangu, who was sentenced to death and executed at the age of 22 in 1979. Other places of significance in the township that you can experience are a visit to the SOS Children’s Village (where parentless children are growing up with the love of a foster mother) as well as the Solomon Mahlangu square – with a statue erected as a dedication to the freedom fighter mentioned above.

The tour concludes with a typical Chisa Nyama lunch, accompanied by the Mamelodi Lager beer.

Jacaranda phenomenon appreciation tour.

Annually from late September to beginning December, around 70 000 Jacaranda trees bloom all over Pretoria and turn the face of the city into what is affectionately known as “purple rain”.

Start with a drive around Bosman and Cilliers Streets, where some of the first lanes of Jacarandas are believed to have been planted.  Proceed through to Arcadia, past Loftus Stadium and through Sunnyside and Brooklyn. Conclude with a venture along Klapperkop Nature Reserve, from where you’ll get a bird’s eye view and admiration of the Jacaranda trees forming the sea of purple in the city below.
