These buses run from 06:00 in the morning until 20:00 at night in the week and 23:30 on Saturday evenings. With two to four minute intervals during peak periods, and seven to ten minutes during off-peak periods.

Taxis

Metered taxis and minibus taxis are the two types of taxis used in the city. The minibus taxis are used by locals to commute between the city, urban areas and townships. The metered taxis can be found near hotels, the airports and shopping malls and require a call for a pick up. There are many taxi and shuttle companies operating all over the city, who provide a reliable and safe door-to-door service.

Car hire

Most car rental companies are represented at the airports and some are in the city centre. Vehicles may generally be picked up at one centre and dropped off at a branch in another centre. Any valid driver’s license is accepted in South Africa, provided it bears the photograph and signature of the holder and is printed in English. Please note that vehicle hire companies may also require an international driver’s license – it is worth confirming this with your travel agent or the vehicle hire company when making your booking. This holds for additional drivers as well, who must be identified when you hire your vehicle.
